PROPER CARE
Turbochargers are driven by rerouted exhaust gas and operate at extremely high speed (up to 100,000 rpm). As a result, they generate enormous heat, so it is important to avoid heat buildup in your turbocharger. The turbocharger must be cooled and lubricated by your engine oil.On turbocharged engines, use high quality engine oil of correct viscosity and service rating. The oil will say "turbo approved." Change the oil and filter regularly at intervals recommended by your owner's manual. These intervals may be more frequent than those for normally aspirated (non-turbo) engines since turbocharger heat tends to wear out oil sooner.
